In the world of fashion, MATT & NAT is known for their beautiful, high quality, vegan handbags. Well, I am excited to announce that they recently launched a new women’s vegan shoe line and let me tell you folks, these shoes are fabulous!
If you are not familiar with MATT & NAT, they have been around making vegan handbags since 1995. The name MATT & NAT stands for MAT(T)ERIAL + NATURE and this company doesn’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. Committed to abstaining from using any animal materials, MATT & NAT takes it one step further and also uses sustainable materials such as recycled nylon, cork, and rubber in their products. The lining of all of their handbags are made from recycled plastic bottles. Approximately 21 plastic bottles are recycled for every bag they produce!
One of the things that I really like about MATT & NAT is their commitment to transparency. Their products are produced in China in factories with which they have developed personal relationships. MATT & NAT ensures that not only are they producing a quality product, but that the conditions of the workers within these factories are up to par with their standards. One of their factories operates by the SA8000 standard, which ensures quality work conditions for all and they hope to make that a bigger part of their production in the future.
Now on to the shoes! Like I had previously mentioned, this is the first shoe line for MATT & NAT and they really hit it out of the park in my opinion.
I am anxiously awaiting the warmer weather that accompanies spring which officially started this week. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to start wearing sandals. Specifically, the Villeray sandal. These crisscross flat sandals are available in black (below), silver and tan and have a versatile, chic sophistication about them.
MATT & NAT has two sneaker options in their debut line. The low top Bonaventure and the high top Peel. Both styles are available in black and white and have a 1 inch platform that adds an edge to their classic look.
There are three styles of oxfords available from MATT & NATT with my personal favorite being the Verdun. With a 1 1/4 inch platform, pointy toe and extended vamp, these shoes have hint of the traditional creepers with a much more refined style.
All of MATT & NAT’s shoes are made from vegan 100% PU leather and are produced with the same assurance to high quality as their handbags. I am psyched that MATT & NAT took the leap into footwear. Now the only question is, which pair should I get first?
